Proteins are made up of large biomolecules which are long chain of amino acids. They are essential for living organism. They serve as a structural component of cells and tissues. Protein also does catalyze biochemical reactions, transmitting signals within and between cells. In order to have Proper function of the body proteins are must for our diet.

 

What is protein food?

Protein enriched food are called protein food. They are important macronutrient required by the body. Tissue growth, maintenance, repair functions done by protein.

Following are some protein rich foods

·      Meat: lamb, chicken

·      Fish: salmon, tuna, shrimp, crab

·      Egg

·      Dairy products such as milk, cheese yogurt

·      Legumes such as beans lentils chickpeas

·      Nuts and seeds: almonds, peanut, chia seeds

·       Soy products including tofu

 

 

 

We need to ensure that necessary protein requirement is consumed in order to function the body smoothly.  The amount of protein requirement is depending on age, sex, body weight and activity level.
